LYON Returns to Asian Development Bank with Makai Engineers

Jim Lyon and Ron Gonzales, along with Billy Pieper, Vice President of Makai Ocean Engineers, Inc., recently co-presented Sea Level Rise vs. Island Engineering to Asian Development Bank staff. This second presentation to the ADB featured LYON's field observations and adaptation strategies and Makai's cutting edge visualization software, Makai Voyager.

In 2011, ADB loaned Palau $16 sustainability and cost effectiveness of its water and sanitation services. A new government entity, the Palau Water and Sewer Corporation (PWSC). PWSC is advertising

NDPTC Offers Disaster Preparedness Classes in Hawaii

A member of the the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, Hawaii's National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC), is one of seven organizations funded by the US Department of Homeland Security to teach classes and disseminate cutting-edge curriculum in disaster preparedness. Affiliated with the University of Hawaii, Manoa, select classes are also offered downtown at LYON's Yellow Sub Room.

Our Movie Pick: The Island President

The Island President is the story of President Moham ed Nasheed of the Maldives, a man confronting the critical problem of sea-level rise, and provides an insider look into the advocacy of climate change. The 1200 islands of the Maldives will become unlivable if surrounding waters rise just three meters.
